Negation​

The आ- prefix is added to a verb to make it negative.

 

यच्ये - 'he went'

आयच्ये - 'he did not go'

​

थुङ्‍नो - 'Drink!'

आथुङ्‍नो - 'Don't drink!'

​

प्रिन्च्यो - 'he will hit'

आप्रिन्च्यो - 'he will not hit'

​

A "halanta" (lower slash mark) is inserted after the ङ when adding a suffix!

The short "i" stays short even with the negative marker before the word!
